Novice and Professional Preliminary Pageant

 

Age Divisions

(Age as of August 1, 2005)

Tiny Miss 3 and 4, Petite Miss 5 and 6, Little Miss 7 to 9,

Preteen Miss 10 to 12, Young Miss 13 to 15,

Teen Miss 16 to 19, Ms. 20 to 40

 

Novice (any age): Competed in five or less total pageants.

Professional (any age): Competed in six or more total pageants.

 

AWARDS

TWELVE AGE DIVISION WINNERS One queen title will be awarded in each age division for novice and professional. These are the contestants with the highest combined scores from the mandatory events only. The age division queens are eligible to win all pageant events. Each winner will receive a Banner, Tiara, Trophy, and a $25.00 discount off of their state entry fees.

TOP TWO AGE DIVISION RUNNERS UP in novice and professional in each division will receive a Banner, Trophy, and a $15.00 discount off of their state entry fees.

SIX AGE DIVISION TALENT WINNERS (Novice and Professional combined) - Each contestant with the highest score in the optional talent competition from each age division will receive the talent title. Each winner will receive a Banner & Trophy.

TOP TWO TALENT RUNNERS UP in each age division will receive a medallion.

OVERALL EVENT WINNERS (Novice and Professional combined) There will be one overall award given in each of the pageant events, which includes evening gown, casual wear, interview, photogenic, print model, portfolio, and talent. These awards are given to the one contestant from the entire pageant that has achieved the highest score in each event. You can win one or all of these awards. Each winner will receive a Trophy or Plaque.

TWO ALL AMERICAN GIRLS These awards will go to the one novice contestant, and the one professional contestant from the entire pageant that scores the highest in evening gown, casual wear and interview. The winners will receive a trophy and gift.

ALL CONTESTANTS Will receive a Souvenir Program, & a Goody Bag.

HOST HOTEL The preliminary pageant will be held at the Comfort Suites Inn in Troutdale, Oregon. Rooms are available at a discounted group rate of $68.00 a night plus tax. There are a limited number of rooms available at the special rate so book early. The deadline for making reservations is February 1, 2004. You will need to mention that you are with the 5 Star Pageant group to receive the special rate.

 Winners are not required to attend the state pageant.

 

PAGEANT EVENTS

MANDATORY EVENING GOWN

Ages three to nine may wear dress of choice, but the dress must be above the knee. Shoes should match the color of the dress, or be white. Please wear anklets or hose, no tights. Makeup is allowed due to lighting, but must be kept age appropriate. Ages ten and older may wear dress of choice, but it must be floor length. Please wear dresses that are age appropriate. Shoes should match the color of the dress or be clear. Makeup should also be age appropriate. No gloves or props in any age divisions. Modeling is straight tee formation with one turn only in front of the judges.

MANDATORY CASUAL WEAR

All casual wear outfits must be off the rack (store bought). Casual wear can be any outfit of your choice, but avoid too fancy (no formal, or tailored type attire), and not too sloppy/baggy. Makeup and modeling guidelines are the same as evening gown.

MANDATORY INTERVIEW

All contestants will have an on-stage interview. Following each contestants evening gown modeling, they will be asked age appropriate questions by the emcee.

OPTIONAL TALENT

Please turn in talent tapes at registration. Your music must be on a cassette tape on side "A", it must be the only music on the tape and it must be cued. Contestants name and age division must be on cassette. Maximum time limit is 3 minutes and talents are timed. No instrumentation or other props will be provided by the pageant. The pageant will provide a microphone (if needed), and a cassette player.

OPTIONAL PHOTOGENIC AND PRINT MODEL

Photogenic picture(s) and Print Model picture(s) may be 5x7s or 8x10s, and are to be turned in at registration. Photogenic picture(s) must be HEAD SHOTS only; Print Model picture(s) may be ¾ or full length portfolio shot. Please put contestants name, age, and the words Photogenic/print model on a piece of paper, and attach it to the back of each appropriate photo.

OPTIONAL PORTFOLIO

Portfolio pictures may be 5x7 or 8x10, color or black and white. No more than 10 photos, and no pictures with crowns and banners. Portfolios are to be turned in at registration. Please have contestants name and age somewhere on the front of the portfolio.

THEME WEAR

DOES NOT COUNT toward Hi Point or Mandatory, a "Just for Fun" optional where contestants can wear any outfit or costume of their choice with a Valentine theme.  One overall winner will receive trophy and gift basket.

 

PAGEANT INFORMATION

PROGRAMS Each contestant will receive one program in their registration packet. Additional programs will be available at the registration desk for $2.00 each, while supplies last.

SCORE SHEETS If you would like to know how you scored at this preliminary pageant, please send a request along with a processing fee of $5.00 (check or money order only) to 5 Star Pageant Productions, PO Box 21628, Keizer, OR 97307, and you will be sent your judges score and comment sheet. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery. Score sheets are kept for six months from date of pageant. You may also turn in your request and processing fee at registration.

CAMERAS AND VIDEO CAMERAS The use of cameras and video cameras will be allowed during all preliminary events, although video cameras must be set up in the back of the room.

DRESSING ROOM One will be provided for the contestants to change in. No men are allowed in the dressing room at any time.

ADMISSION Each contestant will receive one adult chaperone pass. Admission fee for additional guests for all events including crowning is Adults (ages 13 to 59) $4.00, Children (ages 6 to 12) and Seniors (ages 60 and up) $2.00, Children 5 and under are free.
